Association of citizens “PONS” is a local, non-governmental organization from Bosnia and Herzegovina with its seat in Bijeljina. “Pons” (Latin: the bridge) was founded in June 2002 by the employees of südost Europa Kultur e.V . from Berlin who worked on the project „Nada - danas i sutra“ (Hope - today and tomorrow) that aimed to improve democracy and human rights in both entities. In order to keep using experience and knowledge gained during the work in südost and to stay present in society with our activities after completion of the project we founded local organization PONS.
Head office of Association of citizens “Pons” is in Bijeljina, in house “Duga” that Freudenberg foundation donated to Organization of Women “Lara” and our organization for common usage.
However, members of PONS also live and work throughout the whole BiH, thus we are easily able to implement projects on a wider geographical range.
With this background we have accomplished the following:
- We have established a wide network of contacts with international-governmental and non-governmental organizations as well as with local organizations and institutions.
- Our members are well-trained in all aspects of project work. Some are trainers themselves.
- We are familiar with needs of the society and available options for overcoming certain problems.
